Thank God!

الحمد لله

As some of my readers may know, I currently work as a health insurance adviser so I talk to a lot of people daily. The other day, this sweet old lady was confused about her bill that she got so we went over it together. That phone call should have lasted about 5 minutes but while talking to her, it ended up being 20 minutes. She first wanted clarification on her bill, which we were able to straighten out but then she kept going on and on, talking about things that happened in her life. From talking about having insurance and being able to afford her care, to her knee injury, she told me everything. One thing that stood out to me was that after everything she said, she kept saying "and thank God I had insurance because I don't know what I would do" or "thank God I'm not as unhealthy as some people and I still have my health". She kept thanking God and I couldn't help but keep her words in my mind. She's right. Thank God. I woke up this morning and before my feet touched the ground, I said to myself 'thank you, God, for waking me up today'. Her words really resonated with me because although I hate traffic, may not have the most money in the world, and not being where I really want to be in life, I still thank God. I am truly blessed with everything I have been given and it took for a little old lady asking about her bill for me to realize it. She was maybe in her 60s and I couldn't help but think how she reminded me of my family back home in Bosnia. In Bosnia, people don't have much but are always grateful for what they do have. Living in America, sometimes we forget about little things like being able to wake up on our own 2 feet or breathe with our own lungs, when some people don't have that luxury. With that lady's constant thankfulness, it just gave me the reminder to always be grateful. I may not have it all but I am thankful for what I do have. Thank God.

With that being said, I recently accepted a new position within my company and I am beyond excited to start. I am very nervous to start this role, but I hope to be the best that I can be.
